Dreams Feed Me

Clay Hill Farm Unveils New Sculpture Garden

Cape Neddick, Maine — Clay Hill Farm is proud to announce the opening of a new outdoor artistic venture: The ‘Dreams Feed Me’ Sculpture Garden by Saco artist Patrick Pierce.

This collection of contemporary sculptures embodies history, nature, beauty and purpose. Made of steel, copper, bronze and wood, the seven-piece show brings fulfillment to a rarely explored corner of this dining destination. The art garden opens August 9th and runs through November 9th.

“I love the longevity of the site, a farm since 1780 that is nature forward,” said Pierce, who worked for years in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts. “This collaboration with nature opens the way towards engagement. Sculptures are not mere objects, they are reservoirs of energy that change the space in which they reside.”

To Clay Hill’s event director Jennifer Lewis, the new sculpture garden is the perfect fit. She envisions wedding parties mingling around the sculptures after ceremonies. And diners perusing the work before sitting down for a Maine inspired meal.

“Exploring the natural beauty of relationships — to nature, to the community, and to each other — has always been one of the philosophical cornerstones of our family business. We are very experiential at Clay Hill Farm, always looking for new ways to enhance the connective experience and transcend food and service,” said Lewis, whose family purchased Clay Hill Farm in 1986.

Using parts of abandoned bridges, dead factories and industrial debris from the mills of Lowell, to create his sculptures — the history of each cast-off an unlikely muse — Pierce creatively repurposes and skillfully transforms the forgotten elements into highly relevant works of art. Always on the hunt for that which is rejected and overlooked to liberate the beauty that still exists, Pierce considers himself a ‘synthesist’. “I like to take things falling apart that are headed for oblivion and recombine and reassemble them like a poem.”

The public opening of the ‘Dreams Feed Me’ sculpture garden and artist’s reception at Clay Hill Farm in Cape Neddick, Maine will be Thursday, August 9th from 4-6pm. Complimentary light hors d’oeuvres and a ribbon-cutting toast will be provided. Public welcome.
